High school is a difficult time in a teenager's life, particularly girls. Whether is behind a back or to a face girls biting at other girls is DEFINATELY going to happen. So whether you're a mother, a father or a child keep reading and find out what happens in the classrooms.
Mean Girls
Mean girls is a perfect example of what goes on in life outside the front door. This movie may seem over-exaggerated but the truth is, it's not. If anything its under-exaggerated. It's a war zone in the playground.
For example:
Our group was sitting around doing the normal lunch time thing, when suddenly Phoebe comes out of no where. She leans on the tree behind me and starts talking about someone to the girl next to me. Out of curiosity and pure girliness i said, "Who?" and of course being just as much as a girl as I am my friend sitting on the other side of me said, "Who?" Phoebe looked to see who said "Who?". She took one look at my friend and said, "Don't talk to me." BOOM!! It was weird. We didn't even know Phoebe.
"What? Why can't I talk to you?" By this time everyone was silent and listening.
"Because you're annoying, bitchy and I don't like you." WOW! This was bonkers!
"You don't even know her!" Whoa where did that voice come from. I looked around for a few seconds before I realised it was me. Phoebe said something else before storming off in her phoebe sort of way. I was interested to see what was going to happen the next day.
So, as you see girls who have NEVER MET even bag each other out. Some psychologists call it "THE GAME" which is a perfect name because that's exactly what it is. A game.
Starting High School
Starting high school is one of the biggest step any child will take in their whole life. When you're young, say five, you get all excited about starting big school. Though when you come to your first day of high school, you realise just how little primary school is.
2 weeks before I started high school, my older sister was bouncing from wall to wall with excitement. Meanwhile, me and my twin would trudge along glancing at her and her friends every now and then to sigh at their hysterical bouncing. When the first day came, it still hadn't kicked in that I was in high school. As we walked through the main entrance it didn't feel any different then when I had before for any of my sisters school occasions. Me and my twin stood awkwardly as my sister and her best friend grinned at one another, then at us, then at one another.
Rachael pointed out to us that the average height, brunette girl standing under the owning by the hall was the annoying girl from her orientation peer support group. She looked relatively nice to me. Sam and Shannon started hassling Rachael to talk to her. When Rachael admitted she was too shy mum had started her way over to talk to the girl and her mother. We all cracked up laughing as mum started talking to them. It was very embarrassing. So the girl, her mother, and my mother made their way back up to us. Though it was extremely embarrassing, my mother introduced me to the best friend i have ever met. That day, I met REAL friends. The kind that really likes you and sticks up for you. Starting high school was the best thing that ever happened to me. If you're nervous then don't worry, because high school is where you change most, you get real friends, and you discover that person deep inside you.

School Work
One of the things that worries kids that are starting high school is school work. Kids that it's just going to get too hard and the homework will be over loaded. Actually, it seems to get easier and getting a little bit of homework through out the week seems simpler.

Yes, high school is difficult. Just work hard, have a little fun here and there, and everything will work out. My freshman year was very easy because I had an upper classman looking out for me. So upper classmen, try not to haze freshman. We all know what it was like.
omg that is so true i will be a freshmen next year and that is the same thing going on in our middle school!!!!!!!!!! this is a crazy world we live in

Hahaha, im in grade 10 at a new high school since i switched from a diff. country, and yea it was hard adjusting, especially if ur from a different background w/ different views and approaches. it just takes some time getting used 2 evrything and evryone.dont get me wrong tho, high school is confusing, especially if u take catty girl fights, tests, boy issues,homework,dances, creepers/stalkers, crushes, sports and finals into consideration. there's only so much some teens can handle, so evrything works out differently for evryone depending on the way they handle the situation :p
So in essence, a bit of advice for some of u guys who are just starting high school, hang on tight, and get ready for some fun & teenage drama cuz its gonna be a bumpy, crazy yet awesome ride !!!!!!!! :D
oh man, high school is sweeeeet, chicks,parties,getting ur drivers license :D pretty much once u get all the homework stuff out of the way its awesome
omg i am going to start high school next year and i am very scared because most of the movies i watch high sch girls are very mean and i don't know how to survive it without help.
it sounds aweful!!!!!! why do adults wanna send their children to a school where people are so .... mean ... and rude i mean sure you'll meet awesome friends and new people but im scared to start i mean im starting in the fall of this year and ive gone to catholic school all my life so im not going to know anyone where i end up going ... HELP!!!!
I am so nervous too. I have been to a private scholl all my life. I know that somw of the kids are coming to the school I am but I am still nervous. I don't know what to do. Everyone keeps saying that high school is the most memberale time in your life but I'm scared and I just think that it is more to it than I think.
Oh yeah. I'm starting high school in august and omg my friends and I are nervous but excited. I just don't know what to expect except what my older brother's told me, which isn't much.
Yeah I am pretty scared.......i have been homeschooled and know i am going to high school.......and my mom was very very p[opular so it isnt as if i have no expectations or nothin!!!!!!!!

Today we had orientation. It was a bit nerve racking... the school was so large. There were about 100 people with me and they were just the first half of my class.
I know a few people that are going with me from my old school -most of them... eh, not from the same crowd I am.
I'm hoping that I'll meet my friends in the second half... :/ It sucks to be all the way at the bottom again.
Hopefully I'll survive! xD
I m so nervous for high school my sis went into high school with so many friends and semi-good grades, and now, being a senior, she is having to take online classes and she has like 3 friends. I hape i do alot better than her.=?
i'm startng in 5 days i'm still nervous but i'm exited to every time i see the bilding i get butterflys and my brother makes it worse by saying it will be th worst years of my life :{
i start high school in 4-5 more days && of course im nervous but at the sametime im looking foward to high school. most of my friends && boyfriends ive had have all been in high school, i dont really hang out with kids my age so i guess ill get along in high school just fine. im not really scared of fiting in, classes && project ect
many of my high school friends tell me the same thing "its not that much harder" i think that everyone enconters something different in high school, it might be not fitting in, looks, classes, clubs, or even standing out to much. at the end it just school. && we'll end up being great people
im starting high school tomarow and i am sooo nevious its so big and i hated the people in 8th grade now 10th graders so hope everything will go right and i broke my hip and no elivator and mclasses are up satirs how am i going to survive
oh my gosh...if mean girls was an understatement for real high school...im never gonna survive. yeah. i feel MUCH better about high school now. =[
People are always talking about the fights, sex, drugs, parties, and all kinds of stuff like that. They say those things occur often in High School. However, in my middle school, all of those things happened on a regular basis, especially sex. People act all surprised when I talk about fourteen year olds who lost their virginity, but it's just another day to me. It cant possibly be even worse in high school, could it? In eight grade, I was the center of a horrible pregnancy rumor and I lost half of my friends. I had even made it all the way up to the "Popular Group" and the just dropped me. The next day another rumor was spread that I started the first one about myself. From then on, me and my friends were almost attacked everyday. But, I made it. I don't regret any of it, either. But, I've changed a lot over the summer and I know I'll be able to survive high school. I'm still incredibly nervous and I will be for the next five days, but I know some upper classmen. I haven't talked to them in years, but I know them because when I was 2-11 I went to day care with them. I just went to orientation last night and all my classes were just about in the same area. When I looked at them map, it turns out the school is HUGE. Luckily I wont be traveling throughout the whole thing. Oh, and the cafeteria is called the commons which I thought was weird. lol.
I'm starting high school in 4-3 days,and the wait is actually quite exciting. I may sound crazy to those who have experienced high school, and hated it, but I hated my elementary school, and all of my so-called 'friends'. So, I'm hoping to get a fresh start. I would like to tell those people who are in the same position as me, that it's really no big deal; as long as you keep your studies and social life under control. You know, time for friends, time for class? I'm probably an ameture with all this, so I hope you don't take my advice to heart(unless it works), but as a 13 year-old, I think I have gone through quite a bit. Things like depression, eating disorders, and multiple mental issues that got me a long-term stay at my local mental hospital.---But that doesn't mean I know everything. I'm just trying to help those who need a little comfort in knowing that your not alone. Everyone has a point in they're life where they were scared. So don't worry too much and you'll be fine. :D
High school is complicated. I'm in the tenth grade and had a safety transfer from a diff school. People are gonna talk shit an your not gonna make friends right away. You juss gotta take it day by day. Sooner or later things are gonna work out.

oh lord i have to start high school next year i dont know what im gonna do i mean im scared 2 death im afraid to go to high schol this sept. i dont wanna i mean all of my friends are either going to a private school or theyre movin and i have to go to a catholic school and start all over!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its not fair :( im uber shy.. what do i do?
if anybody can help me, please im desperate! i have 0% confidence and the friends i have now have been my friends for 9 years i cant start all over i cant do that.. the ppl in my school, well they kinda take me as a pushover and i finally started to stand up for myself and now they pretty much hate my guts.. and i know high school is going to be a thousand times worse.. does anybody have any advice?
High school can be really nerve wrecking sometimes....especially when people starts to act really inmature over the wrong things. I've changed like seven schools because of job issues and still haven't gotten used to the new kid drill. ppl are just unaware of how much pain they are causing others while trying to win popularity. It makes me sick. But they are shallow like that but high school isn't forever so the best thing to do is to build some confidence in oneself rather than eating up everything everyone else may be saying behind your back.
Look im at high school atm im in year 10 now let me tell you want is happening at my school...without trying to sound like a tool yes i am popular i have plenty of friends have awesome weekends and a beautiful girlfriend :)...BUT in the end high school is all about work and learning, i currently get C's and B's but last year i struggled i was away for 4 weeks that made such a huge problem when you missed out on a even a single lesson it takes almost the same amount of time to catch up...i was very stressed out never got any sleep had to take sleeping pills and stuff and some what was depressed...the best help i can give you is be nice and if you do get teased Laugh it off or make a joke about it! dont react! make friends but most importantly finish your homework and study or otherwise you'll go through what I did.

I'll be in high school next year sad cause I am leavin my amazing friends from kindergarden and up and leavin all the little bitty small town schools for the ginormous out of town hs. But excited because I am goin to hs with a lot of friends that went to different ms and I get to go to an awesome art school and they are tearin down my ms anyways :( so it doesn't really matter. Man I wish I was born a year earlier so I would be in hs with all my friends that are bout to graduate. I am just going to try to stay out of stupid drama like I basically did in ms :). But I'll miss my crappy ghetto redneckin ms :P.

im starting this fall too... im nervous because i wont know half the people. my school and another school combine in high school. i only know a few of them (the ones i cheer with for freshman cheer) and i hope it doesnt suck :P

I am terrified of high school!!! My sister keeps telling me I'll be fine, but I just can't make myself excited. And it's not just the kids, who scare me half to death, but the school work! I get so stressed I think I'll fail everything!!!! Our orientation is in a few days so I hope I can calm down by then.

Uhm, wow im scared and im going in grade nine, im frightened on how im going to find my classes and if i get lost,! i dont even have my schedual yet, i dont think i will have time to go to my locker and get stuff then go find my class in 5 minutes, :l Im not looking forward to high school at all,!
p.s- i also missed orientation day. Im not prepared! i had a check up out of town that day, so now im terrified!
Kk, first of all, don't be afraid aout not knowing where to go and all. There's teachers and all und the class, so if you don't know where this class is, just ask them. And, besides, for the two first weeks of school, the teachers wont get mad you've been late. I know, trust me. Lastly, chin up :)

just finished the first day of high school and i have to say, its pretty fun! havent gotten any work or anything yet since only the grade 9's went that first day and tomorrows when school actually starts, but its not all that bad.. mean yea i was nervous as hell but i just put on a smile said hello to people and ended up making some new friends, lets just hope the actual school day goes well too... im kinda freaked out because i remember watching those movies that have the highschool bully so im hoping there isnt one at the school im at, everyones been pretty nice so far but yea i think ill be alright
finished first day, no trouble at all. just dont annoy em and they will pretend your not even there so its all good, now for school work =/

I had the best day on the first day, I had a total new look
and everyone was commenting nice things about how i looked, it was so much fun, i love lunch time because we get to go wherever , i dont eat there , i dont like the food, !

I'm a freshmen now an I love high school and no one is been mean at all to me and i got picked on a lot in middle school
pick up a copy of this book! It will really help. I love how you answer questions at the end of each chapter. Kinda like a journal.

I have 1 sister and 2 brothers and my sister is all ready out off high school my one brother this is his last of high school in 2010 and 2011 my other brother has one year left of high school and one I asked them what I should do on the first day of high school they all told me just to go in there and relax I will get through it to be myself NO matter what anyone else thinks of my personality and that is about as simple as it could get that's all my older sister and older brothers had to say to me.

I'm in the 7th grade right now, and i will be going TO the high school like the buildings and all, and I only have like a few months of school left, and I am SSSUUUPPPEEERRR Nervous!!!! I am So scared! But it makes me feel better when i think how all my friends will be going with me.
thanks for that it kinda helps, i'm only 11 and iv'e almost been at my school for a year but i don't get why i still feal nervous about going? My mum said it's normal but im not sure if it is, I guess i still miss my primary :(

high school can be aughfull one minite but other times it can be excelent ! so dont be two worried

I also found this page very helpful to me...but I agree that it'a not really as bad as it seems. There is definitely drama, but it's not unavoidable. Just be your self. hey, i just started high school this year.... kind of depressing though... i'm not sure who to hang out with because everyone is always in their groups. I could hang out with any of them and that'd be fine, but its kind of impossible to be great friends with EVERYONE...
on top of that, there's so much work! i have tution after school as well, so i need to do extra homework! Its nothing like primary school, but hopefully i'll get used to high school after a few months.... life is tough... but i guess the more you try to run away from something, the harder it is to face it when you have to.
I just started highschool , and i'm feleing a bit helpless i made this really good friend at the start of the year but now shes gone with her own little gorup, im always alone.. ad it feels like eberyone else is so happy and joyful l and that im the only one feeling like this.

i hate high school it's terrible
I'm in 11th grade and my highschool is nothing like what you described. If you're in a school that fits the description of "mean girls" .. You might want to transfer schools. For you 'soon to be' high schoolers reading this; - its actually a breeze. More freedom, less homework and if you stay in your place you'll be fine. It goes by extremely fast so enjoy it.
